tuesday... 11th July...
"...we're fasting lunch as a cell every wed, means no solid food nor flav drinks, oni water for 7 hrs afer breakfast..." got this sms from mom on tuesday night...
the next day, i went to visit a fren in the hospital with tng, faith and germ. it was almost dinner time and so apparently, we were famished, having fasted the afternoon.
since we were in SGH, we were looking forward to the abundant good food in chinatown! woohoo~ shiok mann. yah, the chinatown complex has got tonnes of good food, but due to renovation, they shifted to a makeshift food centre. pretty warm. but nvm, food was all that matters! haha.
so you could guess the 3 of us (excluding germ) were walking around the food centre.. it was crowded but thankfully, we found seats.
tng could only eat later because she started fasting later.. so faith and i went to buy our food. finally, i decided to eat fried rice. haha. but told the lady that i want the
bean-sprout-salted-fish version.
and.. this was what happened.
faith came back with her noodles with beef.. and i waited.. close to 20 minutes for my fried rice.
an old uncle came and placed 2 pairs of chopsticks and spoons on the table.
*weird, i thot im eating alone?.. and erm.. i didnt order for a large plate right? so small still expect 2 ppl to share?? weird...*the old uncle came with my fried rice.. and it wasnt the
bean-sprount-salted-fish version. it was the normal one. in my mind, i was like... aiya, anything la, im very hungry. so i passed him 3 bucks.
he looked bewildered. but chose to walk back to his stall.
then he came back and started to speak in cantonese! so fast i couldnt understand a single thing. thank God for faith, who is a cantonese.
apparently, he asked if i wanted the
bean-sprout-salted fish..
i didnt mind not having it.. could just make do with the normal one.
he went away and came back again, saying it was cooked half-way..
so no choice i had to take it. and poor tng.. she had to take one of the plates of rice. (she was craving for chicken rice... coz the fren we visited had chicken rice for dinner)
and so tng...
closed her eyes...
gave thanks for the food..
opened her eyes...
took
ONE bite..
before the uncle came back.. with the other plate. it was...
bean sprout and salted fish.no rice.so tng had to give the rice back to me and go and get her food.
wait, the story hasnt ended..
i gave the uncle 10 bucks... waiting for my 4 bucks change.
.
..
...
....
...
..
.
the change never did come.
faith went with me to ask about it.. coz i cant speak cantonese.
guess what.
yah.. everything cost 10 bucks!!!!!!!! oh my goshhhhhhhhhhhhhh~
i have never eaten such expensive bean sprouts before!!! wahhhhhhhhh~
heartache!!!!
ache si wo!!!
in case u think i tmust have been very nicely cooked and presented...
here is how it actually looks.. (the spoon beside is to show the proportion)

and let me present to you.. the set meal of the century...
combo F. ( @S$10.00/= )
Fried rice with salted
Fish and bean sprou
F. (no, sprouF isnt a typo, im just trying to make it have an 'F'... k, lame. hah)
sad si me and tng.

(trying hard not to armh-jhio)

faith was the only happy one.. haha..
i think tng was the most poor thing.. haha. coz she was eating my rice? ONE mouthful.. and then no more. haha. she went to buy chicken rice.. but.... it was........................... disappointing too.
and so, as 2 out of 3 of us were disasatisfied beings, we decided to cheer ourselves up by eating ah balling. and we picked the traditional stall, though we were sitting right infront of a "trendy" dessert stall. trendy coz got many many kinds of dessert.
i went to get it.
and i think i jinxed the food.

have you ever seen ah balling in clear soup?? my goodness!!! it is like wanton soup~!!! aiyoyo!~
we were so sad! ok fine, i was
VERY SAD.
and hence, we started to walk along to hunt for greener pastures somewhere else.
we walked to smith street.. and hurhurhur.. we found the
REAL ah balling. ok, real to me at least.. must have
peanut soup la!! hahaa..
we ordered a bowl to share..

ahh, yes..
ah balling COMPLETE with peanut soup..
within 6 minutes, everything was gobbled down..
ahh~ yes..
satisfaction. haha.
